John Burman

John Burman was born near Ipswich in 1936 and is mostly self-taught although he spent a year part-time at Valetta Art College, Malta.

John Burman concentrated on landscapes with a special interest in East Anglia and was a member of Ipswich Art Club 1961-1974. Over the years, he has gradually changed from mainly painting landscapes to creating still life, often including flowers, with clear cut shapes and strong, cool colours. He also exhibited at the New English Art Club; Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colour.
