Leslie Moore RI 1907 – 1996

 

Born in Norwich, and educated at the City of Norwich School. Studied at Reading University and the Norwich School of Art where he later taught general subjects in the junior Art Department. He was also instrumental in starting an art department at the Hewitt School Norwich. A member of the Twenty Group. Exhibited with RI and was elected a member. From 1948 he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and The New English Art Club as well as other exhibitions in London and the providences. Much of his work was sold through Mandell’s Gallery Norwich. Illustrated a book which was written by Percy Edwards and also a book of Arms and Armour.

He admired the works of Sir J A Arnesby Brown and Walter Dexter. He was influenced by John Sell Cotman and the Norwich School
