'Twinned Art Revisited' Michael and Jonathan Sanders, 2 April - 23 April 2011
Michael Sanders has a longstanding love affair with Norfolk and his paintings reflect this, sometimes bright and uplifting or more muted palettes evoking a reflective mood. He has painted all over the world, but Norfolk remains at the heart of his work. Michael is synonymous with portrayals of the vast sandy beaches of Holkham, the flint-laden beaches of Sheringham and the windswept marches at Blakeney and Morston.
Jonathan Sanders paints inspiring depictions of African landsapes and wildlife. He also creates bronzes that capture the drama of these wild creatures. More recently, he has returned to Norfolk as inspiration for his work and paints the spirit of Norfolk beach life with its windbreaks, deckchairs and beach huts. These paintings are inspired by the unique light of the Norfolk coast and the sharp colours and contours this presents.
