George Vicat Cole 1833 - 1993
George Vicat Cole was a landscape artist, he quickly gained a reputation as a fine artist. He first exhibited at the age of 18 at the British Institute. In 1852 he exhibited at the Royal Academy and continued to exhibit until 1892. In all he exhibited at the Royal Academy 76 times. He had a delicate quality and his colouring had a feeling that he possessed exceptional talent in his touch, which was firm and sure. Several museums have examples of his work, amongst them being Bristol, Cardiff, Hamburg, Victoria and Albert and Nottingham.
