Kate Giles

Kate Giles is a landscape painter her subject and inspiration is predominantly the Norfolk Landscape where she lives and works.

Her paintings begin with drawing on the spot intensively It feeds on the specifics of particulars: tree, field, angle, light and shadow; an instinctive response to the landscape. In the studio, Kate digests the responses to the landscape, and the subject becomes not so much the object but the memory and feeling of a place.

Kate Giles grew up in Norwich. Having read English at Oxford, she trained at Camberwell and Falmouth Schools of Art. Her work is exhibited and collected both nationally and internationally.
