Featuring ‘1000 Vessel Project’

Join us for the opening: 2 June 5pm – 8pm

The Story: 1000 Vessels, One Journey
In 2021, Norfolk landscape painter Sarah Cannell set a daunting challenge: create 1,000 ceramic vessels from a standing start. This wasn’t just a technical shift from 2D paint to 3D clay; it was a lifeline.

Created while helping her son navigate PTSD after his recovery from Leukaemia, this project explores the power of creativity to hold and heal us. This exhibition marks the project’s culmination, featuring the final 100 vessels and the launch of the accompanying publication.

The Exhibition
Sarah is joined by three contemporary landscape painters who share a deep, walking-based connection to the East Anglian landscape:

Helen Derbyshire: Tactile textile and mixed-media works capturing shifting light and seasons.

Louise Dougherty: Atmospheric paintings exploring identity, memory, and the spirituality of the Norfolk landscape.

Caroline Mackintosh: Rhythmic, patterned compositions inspired by the meeting of water and land in coastal estuaries.

Together, these four artists move beyond traditional scenery to show how place, process, and movement shape our inner worlds.
