Michael King was celebrated as a leading stained-glass designer and conservator. Heading the historic firm G. King & Son, He was also a great supporter and collector of the arts. But behind the scenes, he was quietly building an extraordinary artistic legacy of his own.

This memorial exhibition brings King’s private practice into the spotlight for the first time.
Work and Dreams features a stunning collection of Michael King’s own paintings.

Influenced by his time at Hornsey College of Art, and his career in stained glass. King’s confidence with colour and form translates into captivating paintings that possess a rich, luminous, and dream-like quality—painting philosophies that even went on to influence his contemporary, Ken Kiff.
