SAMUEL DAVID COLKETT

1800 – 1863

A pupil of James Stark. Colkett exhibited his first painting with The Norwich School of Painters when he was only 18, and he exhibited regularly from there on as well as in London at the Royal Academy, The British Institution and The Royal society of British Painters

His work is typified by strong rich colours confidently handled. His subjects, landscapes in the Crome model, way side cottage scenes with sheep, cattle and figures, but always with trees
