Emrys Parry is a quintessentially Welsh artist who, paradoxically, has lived almost his entire working life in Great Yarmouth. He was trained at Leicester College of Art and Design, and is an elected member of the Royal Cambrian Academy.
His paintings have their twin roots in the landscape of his childhood in Nefyn on the Llŷn peninsula and Welsh cultural and mythical history. He has steadily evolved a way of working combining figurative and abstract elements. This book is the first major assessment of the life and work of this Welsh émigré artist.

‘Emrys’s work is underpinned by his outstanding observational drawings, often in charcoal, that fill his many sketchbooks to bursting point. These are the rich sources for the motifs that he later develops in the carefully constructed paintings. His is a serious body of work, totally devoid of the nostalgia that could have invaded it, work that will repay careful looking.’ Keith Roberts
